Storyboard

Our first shot shows the homeless actor walking down an empty highstreet, this shows how alone she is and sets her apart from everyday people

We then decided to go for another shot in the empty highstreet to reinforce this idea. This time we wanted to be closer to familiarise the audience with the charecter.

Initially we wanted to do some birds eye view drone shots, however due to limitations in technology and timing we dont think this can be achieved.

We then switched to an over the shoulder shot of the homeless person looking over the river

When initially planning our storyboard, we wanted to use a shop doorway, however we later found a more ideal location in the form of an underground subway where we carried out the same shots

The next shot is of our performer on Detling Hill, we orginally thought about the north downs or mote park however decided on Detling Hill in the end. Also due to restrictions on casting we did not end up using a guitar

Another restriction on casting meant that we ended up with a female protagonist, while a male protagonist is pictured here, the shot still remains

The original plan for the tracking shots from the car was to film the homeless character as the camera drives past, as if simulating the character being left behind in society.

Another shot of performer, this time just walking through the field. We will film a large amount of shots like this from different distances and angles and choose which work best.

This performance shot shows the musician singing, close up, slowly zooming in.

There will be a pull focus of the homeless character in a shop's doorway, with the camera looking along the row of shops, not front on, as drawn here. This will also highlight the emptiness in the characters life and emphasise how alone they are.

This shot will show flashback of protagonist with boyfriend enjoying life walking through field happy and laughing. Again we will take multiple shots from all different angles and choose the best looking ones, we will also try some tracking and some pull focuses here. We will make these shots high exposure.

The original plan was to include the homeless character and the performer in the same shots, but we soon discarded this idea as it is too complicated and unconventional.

If possible, we would like to film a timelapse of the public (or extras) walking past the homeless character, again implying that she is being left behind in society.

We would like to represent the homeless character as being at one with the urban environment, in contrast to the performer, who is comfortable in the countryside. The happy flashbacks will also be in the countryside too.

We have since planned for the performer not to play a guitar in our music video and we will be focusing on the vocals side of the performance.

Since producing this storyboard, we have changed our plan so that the performer is always standing. This will make the performance element of the video more dynamic and interesting to watch.

We will try to use high angle shots looking down on the homeless character and low angles looking up at performer. Showing their different statuses within the narrative.

Again the performer will not be playing a guitar, we will be focusing on the singing.

Again the performer will not be playing a guitar, we will be focusing on the singing.

This is a low angle shot circling around the performer as he nears the end of the song.

A lot of close-ups of both actors will need to be included, but particularly of the homeless character, in order for the audience to feel empathy towards her.

This flashback will show the homeless character and her drug / drinking problem, hencce why she became homeless.

We are likely to change the final flashback; it should still show how the character became homeless, thereby bridging the gap between the two times in the narrative, but the theme surrounding this flashback could be altered to money or relationship problems as opposed to drugs.

This will eventually leave with her either getting kicked out or just storming out of the house. We shall film both scenarios and see which works best.

One idea for an ending is to show the homeless character dead (but looking like she is sleeping). Or a zoom out or pan away from the performer.
